The book of 1 Peter is a great book designed to encourage believers through trials, sufferings and hardships in this life. In July 64 A.D a fire destroyed most of the great city of Rome. The Roman Emperor Nero (wrongly) blamed the Christians. As a result, Christians began to suffer severe persecution throughout the Empire. The apostle Peter wrote the book to encourage the believers in the area of Asia Minor (modern day area of Turkey).

The major theme of the book is the Christian response to suffering. The application of the book is very relevant today and a great encouragement as to how we can handle the various trials and sufferings that we go through as Christians. We encourage you to take this journey with us as we study 1 Peter. This entire series will be covered by Andrew Deane. Andrew studied at the Master's Seminary in California with a Master of Divinity and a Master in Biblical Counseling.
